Latest Covid19 Update
03/19/2020
I would like to first express my extreme gratitude for the work of all of our HISD staff to ensure our student's educational needs are met to the best of our abilities during this unprecedented time.  I also applaud our parents for taking advantage of the remote instruction opportunities provided by our faculty both via hard copy and online.  The turn out for educational packets has been phenomenal.

Governor Abbott, in an address today, has ordered the closing of schools through Friday, April 3rd.  HISD will thus be closed through that time unless further action is taken by the governor.  The tentative plan is that once we are cleared to resume school, staff will return one day ahead of students to allow for preparations.  For example, if schools are allowed to resume after April 3rd, HISD would have a staff work day on Monday, April 6th and students would return on Tuesday, April 7th.  The actual dates will be established once a determination to resume school has been made.

During our closure I appeal to each of you to take all recommended precautions and follow the guidance of the CDC and our state health agency.

Sincerely,

J. Reese Briggs
